I've been in a toxic friendship too for years in college. Since then we moved to different cities and I had met an amazing guy that helped me with my self esteem issues. I still thought of her as a friend until I met her recently when she started playing the same old games and I decided this was it. Im trying to cut her off now although I do grieve the loss of a friend. She has found another friend who seems to have a low self esteem and puts her on a pedestal. I think such people just prey on those with low self esteem to feel superior.
Kudos to you for ending it with her! It shows you've already grown.
